Workshop Loess and ArcheologyUrheberrecht: J. Bösken
The Chair of Physical Geography and Geoecology at the Department of Geography of the RWTH Aachen University and the Department of Prehistoric Archaeology of the University of Cologne invite scientists from the fields of Paleolithic archeology, paleoclimatology and paleo modelling on 28th and 29th November 2019 to Aachen to participate in our International Workshop on Loess and Archeology. The Workshop is organized in the frame of the CRC806 “Our Way to Europe”-project (www.sfb806.uni-koeln.de) and will be held at the guesthouse ‘Königshügel’ (https://goo.gl/maps/BWtznekU5bxPV19Y7).
Numerous archeological sites are embedded in Eurasian loess sequences which calls for a combined investigation of archeological and paleogeographical findings. During the two-day workshop newest scientific results in the fields of archeology, geoarcheology, paleogeography and paleoclimatology are shared and discussed. We also strongly invite participants from the modelling community to strengthen collaborations between the various disciplines. This meeting follows up on a successful workshop about ‘Last glacial paleogeography and archeology in the Eastern Mediterranean and Eastern European loess belt’ held in 2012.
The registration is now open until the registration and abstract submission deadline on 30th September 2019. Abstracts must not exceed a word count of 300 words and can be send together with the registration form to email@example.com.
Guesthouse ‘Königshügel’ was built in 1913 and 1914 as a villa for the manufacturing family Lammertz. Since its renovation in 2005, the historical building serves to accommodate guest and is used for workshops and exhibitions.
