Report of the Annual Meeting of the German Society of Geomorphology (DGGM) 2023
From the 04th to 06th October, the 49th annual meeting of the German Society for Geomorphology took place at the Institute of Geography of the RWTH Aachen University. About 85 participants, among them many PhD students, attended this year's meeting, which was themed "Geomorphology in Change".
High above the city of Aachen in the Super C, the participants were welcomed by Prof. Peter Kukla, Dean of the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering and Spokesperson for the Faculty Deans of RWTH Aachen University. Following this were three intensive and interesting days with a wide range of lecture and poster sessions. Stimulating discussions in a convivial atmosphere could be continued in the evening program of the conference, at the Ice-Breaker Party as well as at the Conference Dinner.

- Antonia Reiß, Uni Mainz – Exploitation of a medieval coastal landscape - extensive peat extraction around Hallig Hooge, Wadden Sea of North Frisia (Germany) PART 1
- Diana Agostina Ortiz, Uni Bonn – Andean permafrost in taluses and block- slopes in the Agua Negra Basin, Argentina – Detection and Distribution
- Lisa Feist, RWTH Aachen – Shelf geomorphology and hydroacoustic expression of offshore tsunami deposits (Algarve, Portugal)
We are particularly pleased to present the lecture award to our research associate Johannes Keßels. He presented the results of the first phase of the project "HEARTs Headway or Escape? The Anthropogenic Riverscape Transition in the eastern Harz Mountains", a sub-project of SPP 2361, which has been running since April. In this project, the settlement and mining history of the eastern Harz Mountains has been analyzed and compiled based on various archaeological and historical archives.
